Founded in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in 1873, Holland America Line is an established cruise company and a premium brand under Carnival Corporation. As of 2026, its fleet consists of 11 ships, generally medium to large in size, with the largest measuring about 100,000 GT and accommodating around 2,600 guests. Ships are designed to be quiet and geared toward adults. Distinctive features include Music Walk, which presents classical music and jazz, port programs emphasizing local character, and relatively long itineraries. Announced in April 2026, Holland America Evolution is a major refurbishment program investing more than USD 500 million across six ships: four Vista-class ships (Oosterdam / Zuiderdam / Westerdam / Noordam) and two Signature-class ships (Nieuw Amsterdam / Eurodam). Starting with Oosterdam in autumn 2027, cabin additions and new restaurants are planned. The standard seasonal pattern is Alaska and Northern Europe and the Mediterranean in summer, followed by the Caribbean, the west coast of Mexico, and the Panama Canal in winter.
