OtherThe city itself is a resort city developed since the 1980s and has no historic old town. Hotels, diving shops, and souvenir shops are concentrated around Naama Bay and the Old Market, giving it a strongly tourist-oriented atmosphere, while the business custom of assuming price negotiation remains.

Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh · Egypt · 27.86, 34.31

One of Egypt's leading beach resorts, on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula along the Red Sea. It is known for exceptionally clear waters and coral reefs, and serves as a port of call on Red Sea itineraries.

Port highlights

A tourist city of around 100,000 people
Population
A desert climate with almost no rainfall. From June to September, days are very hot with intense sunshine, and even in winter (December to February) daytime is warm enough for swimming in the sea. Because the air is dry, the shade is comfortable, but measures against dehydration are essential.
Climate
Arabic. Because it is a tourist destination, English is widely understood, and Russian and German signs are also seen.
Language
Egyptian pound (EGP). Resorts also accept US dollars and euros, but the exchange rate tends to be unfavorable.
Currency
October to April. This avoids the extreme midsummer heat, and the clarity of the sea stays high.
Best time to visit
Local food

Grilled Red Sea seafood, koshari (a mixed dish of rice, pasta, and beans), shawarma, molokhia soup, and more. Freshly squeezed mango juice is also a classic.
