The capital of Tenerife in Spain's Canary Islands, off the Atlantic coast. Its year-round mild springlike climate, Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak and a World Heritage Site, and black- and white-sand beaches are major attractions. Warm even in winter, it is a popular European resort port.
