OtherThe town itself is less a tourist destination than a practical port mixing cargo and resort functions. The sights are on the banks of the Nile, more than 3 hours by car from the ship, so a full-day tour of the ruins is assumed. Around the port, the dry desert and the very clear Red Sea form a contrast.

Safaga (Luxor)

Safaga (Luxor) · Egypt · 26.74, 33.94

A Red Sea port town focused on industry and diving, Safaga serves as a gateway to the inland Luxor ruins on cruises. The port itself is small, and almost everyone takes a long-distance excursion during a port call.
