A port city on the Baltic Sea in northern Germany and a major departure and arrival port for Baltic cruises. The eastern end of the Kiel Canal, one of the world's busiest waterways connecting the North Sea and Baltic Sea, is here. Kiel is famous for Kiel Week, one of the world's largest sailing festivals held every summer. It is also a base for the Maritime Museum, beaches, and nearby Lübeck and Hamburg.
