Isafjordur · Iceland · 66.07, -23.13
A small port town of about 3,000 people and the center of Iceland's Westfjords in the northwest. Located at the end of the long, winding Ísafjarðardjúp, it is surrounded by steep mountains on both shores. Its old town preserves 18th-century wooden merchants' houses, while the Westfjords Heritage Museum explores the history of fishing. Excursions to Dynjandi, one of Europe's largest waterfalls, and Vigur Island, known for puffins, are popular.
