Akureyri

Known as the Capital of the North, Akureyri lies at the head of the long Eyjafjord in northern Iceland. Although it is a small town with a botanical garden and colorful streets, nearby attractions include Godafoss, the geothermal area around Lake Myvatn, and Husavik, famous for whale watching. It is a base for the scenic highlights of northern Iceland.
