Founded in 1966, Norwegian Cruise Line is a US-based cruise company and a core brand under Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. It introduced a flexible style early on by eliminating fixed dining times and assigned seating, and its ships are designed around choosing from many options, with numerous specialty restaurants onboard. In recent years, the fleet has been refreshed with Prima-class and Prima Plus-class ships built by Fincantieri, including Norwegian Aqua in 2025 and Norwegian Luna, which entered service in March 2026. Older ships are also leaving the fleet: Norwegian Sky in August 2026 and Norwegian Sun in 2027, both scheduled to move to India's Cordelia Cruises under long-term charters. Many ships feature extensive recreational facilities, including The Haven, go-kart tracks, and large water slides. The line does not operate regular departures from Japan, and Japanese-language support is limited, so travelers from Japan mainly connect to departures in North America or Europe.
